Ok so you’re engaged and its 18 months until the big day, where do you start? There’s so much to do and it can become overwhelming. Don’t panic, we’re here to help you plan the wedding of your dreams. The wedding countdown checklist is here starting at 18 months out, follow this list and your wedding will go off without an issue.

We recommend setting up a word doc or a google spreadsheet, this will help you get and stay super organised. Most Irish couples start planning their wedding day approx 18 to 12 months out from the wedding date but if for some reason you have less time than that, don’t panic there is still time just get the most important tasks booked and you’ll be fine.

The way to be successful is to take it easy, don’t take on too much at once, 12 months is loads of time for you to plan the big day so take your time and don’t rush the decisions.

  1. Set your budget and stick to it
  2. Set a date or a date range
  3. Do a rough guest list to get an idea of the possible guest numbers
  4. Pick a venue
  5. Decide on the type of ceremony you want
  6. Book your videographer and photographer
  7. Book a wedding band
  8. Lock in a makeup artist and hair stylist
  9. Get out and find that wedding dress
  10. Pick your invites
  11. Pick the bridesmaid dresses
  12. Book a florist
  13. Get that wedding cake sorted
  14. Pick out wedding rings
  15. Decide on the wedding decor for your venue
  16. Book wedding cars
  17. Don’t forget the honeymoon
  18. Decide on what you want to do for the afters
  19. Do your marriage course if having a church wedding
  20. Get the suits for the boys
  21. If your having a page boy and flower girl get their clothes sorted
  22. Send the invites two months before the wedding date
  23. Organise the hen and stag do
  24. The happy time – book the time off work
  25. One month before the wedding do the menu testing and finalise the drinks
  26. Wedding dress fittings one month and the weeks leading up to the big day
  27. Finalise the table plan
  28. Pay all suppliers
  29. Don’t forget the wedding certificates and rings

It may seem like a lot to do but 18 months is an even longer time and it’s possible to get it all done without having a mental breakdown. Happy Wedding Day!
