Who Do I Not Need To Invite To My Wedding – The Dreaded Question

“Who Do I Not Need To Invite To My Wedding”……… This is a question that plagues each and every Irish bride and groom before their big day. A good thing to remember when asking yourself this question is that you should only invite those who are your nearest and dearest and who you couldn’t imagine celebrating your big day without them.

These people are the ones you really care about and that care about your future happiness. Saying that it’s still a very tough decision to make, that’s why I got married abroad LOL!

Dream Wedding Dress

For that reason we have listed five people you don’t need to invite to your wedding, we hope it helps you weed out the people when making your wedding day guest list.

  1. The Priest or Registrar – There is no need to invite the person who performs your wedding ceremony, unless they’re a close friend of the family or very special to you or your partner. Some people feel like they need to invite the person who made them into Mr and Mrs but it’s not always the case. The priest has done their duty and married you and they have been paid for this service so job done in my eyes.
  2. Anyone that you haven’t spoken to in over one year – we all know that weddings make people come out of the woodwork, people that you have not clapped eyes on in years! They think great a wedding, free dinner and a night out but you think extra costs for feeding them on the day and this racks up your bills very easily. You cannot go wrong if you apply the only nearest and dearest rule of thumb here. Your wedding should be a personal celebration so there is no need to invite people that you have lost touch with for more than one year. Now the exception would be friends and family who do not live in the country.
  3. There is no need to invite new boyfriends and girlfriends of guests – You could be smart here and if you know they are single or only in a really new relationship just add their name to the invite and not add a plus one.
  4. Don’t invite your boss – Lets face it no one wants to invite their boss but they may feel like they have to because they have been so accommodating during the planning process. Well you don’t, you really don’t. We know that this is the person who will approve your time off for the wedding and the honeymoon but this is all the norm so it doesn’t mean that you must invite them to your wedding. An idea would be to thank them with something small and give it to them when you return to work.
  5. And finally the last one we believe has no place in your big day is people who disapprove of your fiancé – On the off chance that you have a friend or family member that doesn’t approve of your big day, they have no place at the wedding. We don’t need a feeling of negativity on your wedding day so just don’t invite them. A wedding is a celebration and joyous event and there is no room for grumpy faces.

We hope that helps you on your question on “Who Do I Not Need To Invite To My Wedding”

All the best in your wedding planning brides and grooms.
