Everyone has heard of the Coppers effect as its one of the biggest cliches in Ireland. Would ya believe it, male Gardai actually do go on to marry nurses which leads us to believe that the Coppers effect is real!
According to the central statistics offices, 80% of female farmers go on to marry other farmers, while 62% of women public and also stick to their own profession, while a further 57% of female taxi drivers marry the males in the same profession. They concluded that 57% of Irish nurses marry within their profession within the Health services. Female Gardai tend to marry their colleagues, if not their colleagues they marry farmers and large goods vehicle drivers.
All this information is based on a 2016 census performed by the central statistics office. What this tells us is people fall for like minded and similar people, they connect more to these people because they have more in common with them, that being their shared profession.
Farmers made up the largest profession in the census and we can see why as farmers are the largest single male occupation in the country at over 32,000. Followed by lorry drivers at over 11,000, the numbers show that this profession large marry women in the sales and retail sector.
The most common occupation for women within Ireland is the nurses and midwife profession. They account for over 38,000 women and these women tend to marry farmers, some preferring to marry males in the sales and retail sector.
We hope you’ve found your one and only love and hold onto them!
